DR. MARTENS X RICK OWENS
Following last month’s first instalment, the second drop delivers higher
heights and even more dramatic drapery with towering boots and signature
pearl lacing.
Last month, we lifted the veil on our new collaboration with Rick Owens for another dose of the dark,
industrial grunge-glamour that has defined our partnership. Built on our new DMXL sole, the second
drop continues our fusion of primal punk swagger and exaggerated, unconventional elegance. The
2 new boots are once again brought to life by producer, performer, and DJ Sissy Misfit.
The 1460 Jumbo Lace boot is an exaggeration of our classic 8-eye silhouette, with oversized
brushed silver eyelets, a thick outside zip, and extra-thick wraparound pearl laces. The formidable
1918 boot has 18 eyelets and equally dramatic wraparound lacing, and our scripted heel loop is
signed in black and pearl. Both boots are fitted with extra-tall tongues and are built from supple
Lunar leather, which lends unexpected softness to the brutalist structure of the boots.

DR. MARTENS AND RICK OWENS REVEAL TWO
MORE SILHOUETTES FROM THEIR LATEST
ARCHITECTURAL COLLECTION — FEATURING
DR. MARTENS NEW DMXL SOLE.
Each boot stands on our inflated DMXL sole — one of the first designs to emerge from our
experimental new design category, where we push the boundaries of our brand DNA. Exaggerating
our classic construction, the sole combines lightweight EVA with durable PVC pods. It’s marked
with DM’s grooving and secured with our unmistakable yellow welt stitching.

ABOUT DR. MARTENS
The first pair of Dr. Martens boots rolled off the production line on the 1st April 1960. With its
trademark yellow stitch, grooved sole and heel-loop, it was a boot for workers, initially worn by
postmen and policemen; comfortable, durable and lightweight in comparison to its competitors at
the time.
Throughout Dr. Martens history, the brand has been adopted and subverted by diverse individuals,
musicians, youth cultures and tribes. These are the people who stand out from the crowd and their
journey of self-expression has always been accompanied by a pair of DM’s boots or shoes.
The simple silhouette allows people to customise each pair; whilst on a utilitarian level their famous
durability and comfort make them ideal footwear for the world of gigs and street fashion. On an
emotional level, they are a flag of attitude and empowerment.
The Northamptonshire factory where it all began still exists to this day, in the village of Wollaston.
A specific range of ‘Made In England’ products are manufactured here by a small, close-knit team
of people schooled in traditional shoemaking and a process that hasn’t changed since our first pair
six decades ago.
